Roodewal Statement leaves an angry community with unanswered questions?
Roodewal Kennels was exposed as a large miniature schnauzer puppy farm empire. With a kingpin at the top doing the marketing with many other breeders contracted to supply miniature schnauzer puppies into the network. It has been shut down. Between Schnauzer Friends South Africa and the SPCA's 320 breeding ex Roodewal Kennel breeding stock schnauzers were rescued, sterilized, medically treated and rehomed into loving homes. These dogs were kept in horrific conditions outside with little human contact, while locked into the breeding cycle, without a voice of their own. Many were emotionally broken and need extensive rehabilitation. They now have a chance to be loved pets!

BACKGROUND
Elmarie Cillers from Roodewal Kennels has recently been exposed as running a schnauzer puppy farm empire. The 76 schnauzers confiscated off her farm were all under 3 years old. Elmarie proudly states she has been breeding schnauzers for 30 years. Schnauzers live to be about 14/15 years. At some stages she had over 200 breeding dogs on her farm - long before she started with her contract breeders...

Liezel Irby posted on News24.com: Ever since embarking on this rescue mission with Schnauzer Friends of South Africa, I have cursed Elmarie, called her horrible things and hoped that she would get back ten-fold what she did to those poor little schnauzers. Elmarie deserves every bit of bad mouthing and reputation slander out there. But i also have to ask this: Where is the 'family vet' that helped her run this horrid scheme? The person that could without a blink, without remorse or conscience get rid of her "old" stock? The person that probably would have come to the farm and do vet checks on the moneymaking tree called Roodewal??? I will say what I have repetitively said: We will find you, hunt you down and make you regret the day you ever became apart of this horrid and disgusting thing called greedy breeding!!
On the Ban Animal Trading South Africa page under this post Herman H Le a Roux says "And again. The perfect example of someone that thinks they can do what they want, because, you know, its just an animal. I would like to remind her of the words of Gandhi, the greatness of a nation is measured by how they treat their animals. So your greatness is pretty much lacking. Just resolve this, its easy, give the answers to the questions being put to you. If you are transparent, it will be easy, and all will be well. But you cannot, can you? You, madam, need to own up for this, because you see there are people that actually see this, and will not be silenced. And to the people that support these so called "breeders" because they want a cute little puppy. You are just as bad, if not worse. You create the market. If you own a puppy but you are blind as to where that puppy comes from, if you cannot "face" the videos and the photos of the facts, but you ooh and ahh about the puppy, you are not being a kind human that loves a puppy. You are just as guilty. Because you see, you have the choice to look the other way, the parent of that puppy did not have the luxury to turn the other way. You are innocent until proven guilty yes. But you are guilty if you cannot be transparent in what you do, if you cannot provide answers, and if you support this kind of breeding. There should be an animal offenders list, like the sex offenders list. Once you are guilty, you may not own another animal for the rest of your life. The notion that many, many people in South Africa and Africa have that "it's just an animal, I can do what I want" is typical of a breed of people that belong in the dark ages. There have been many people that stood up for human rights and succeeded. The animal activists are coming, and they are a weird kind of breed, they simply will not stop. They just wont stop until there is no more of this."

- Why did it have to come to the point of getting a warrant and the SAPS, SPCA and EARS involved? We tried to talk to you?
- Why were your breeding schnauzers in such a horrific conditions that they had to be confiscated under the Animal Protection Act?
- Is it really too much trouble to pick up the poo or give them water to drink in the kennels ?
- Why are all these people saying these things if they are not true?
- Why were a lot of your puppies sick?
- Why did you not test for genetic diseases?
- Why did a lot of your puppies have behaviour issues?
- Why did you continue to breed and sell puppies to people when you are aware of these issues.
- Why did you allow your breeding dogs to have litter after litter without allowing them a rest period?
- How do you feel in your heart about robbing your breeding dogs from a happy life in a loved home - but rather lock them in cages day in and day out on your farm?
- Why did you do your own vaccinations?
- Which vet or vets were assisting you with the puppy farm?
- Are you actually sorry for what you have done?
- How can you be so cruel to your animals ?
- Why do you blame it in your staff - it was your own business for so many years ? Are you such a coward ?
