Rescue Miniature Schnauzer Adoptions
Roodewal Kennels was exposed as a large miniature schnauzer puppy farm empire. With a kingpin at the top doing the marketing with many other breeders contracted to supply miniature schnauzer puppies into the network. It has been shut down. Between Schnauzer Friends South Africa and the SPCA's 320 breeding ex Roodewal Kennel breeding stock schnauzers were rescued, sterilized, medically treated and rehomed into loving homes. These dogs were kept in horrific conditions outside with little human contact, while locked into the breeding cycle, without a voice of their own. Many were emotionally broken and need extensive rehabilitation. They now have a chance to be loved pets!
A letter from Asterix ... From puppy farm schnauzer to pampered pooch
Asterix was a Roodewal Kennel breeding schnauzer, adopted by Heidi Smith as part of our puppy farm rescue project and he has never looked back!
Hello Aunty Deborah,
It's me Asterix, I've been living with my forever Mommies who adopted me just over 3 months ago. Mom says I need to boast about just what a beautiful boy I am and how happy I am. I love racing around and playing with my brother Seth we get into a lot of situations that makes mom look at us like we have gone crazy! I've learned to growl and howl now so when we go to the park all 3 of us sing in the back of the car till we get arrive at the park, I also really like to be on top on my mommies all the time so if its TV time on the couch or when we need to sleep I have to sleep on top of them or at least their heads, mom says I'm her beanie. I also love my veggies though green beans are not my favourite my sister Sahara eats those for me, Mom was telling me the other day when she was brushing me that I'm built for the artic as my coat is so thick, she's so happy it's almost hair cut time so we can all be shorter than what we are now. Mom has said in the short time we've been a family that I have blossomed so much and have come out my shell even more as the days go by, I still get one or to moments when a sudden move or noise happens that I get scared, but then I run to the couch and sit by my moms and know everything is going to be ok. Mom says I should also tell you like your precious Thomas who hurts his toys that I do the same to all mine, I ripe all the eyes off and Seth and I play very rough with then and then Sahara and mom sew the holes closed again and make patches.
Mom says when I do better with people and big crowds then we can come do more of the schnauzer walks and then I get to see some of my other friends who were also adopted. So I promise to start trusting people more so we can all do the walks.
I would like to say think you from the bottom of my Schnauzer heart for all the good and hard work you have done finding each of us a safe home filled with love, All because of you I have the perfect home for me. Thank you
I asked mom to attached some photos of how well I'm looking. Yes I did pick up some weight, but the vet says its good as I was a skinny boy.
