A Response to the disapointing SPCA Press Release.....

Roodewal Kennels was  exposed as a large miniature schnauzer puppy farm empire.  With a kingpin at the top doing the marketing with many other breeders contracted to supply miniature schnauzer puppies into the network.  It has been shut down.  Between Schnauzer Friends South Africa and the SPCA's  320 breeding ex Roodewal Kennel breeding stock schnauzers were rescued, sterilized, medically treated and rehomed into loving homes. These dogs were kept in horrific conditions outside with little human contact, while locked into the breeding cycle, without a voice of their own.  Many were emotionally broken and need extensive rehabilitation.  They now have a chance to be loved pets!

Hey - YOU FORGOT TO SAY SORRY TO THE DOGS!!!!!

RESCUE: On the 4th July 2015 the Highveld Ridge SPCA issued a disappointing press release regarding the exposed Roodewal Kennels puppy farm empire run by Elmarie Cilliers. As a result of the exposure, there are 320 miniature schnauzers being rehomed between the SPCA and Schnauzer Friends South Africa. The press release is available on their Facebook page if you missed it. Here is a lovely letter to the Schnauzer Friends South Africa community from Michelle & Scout from KZN. ENJOY! #gettingthewagback

Dear Schnauzer Friends - South Africa

It was with a heavy heart when I read the Press Release from Highveld SPCA. For those of you are directly involved in assisting them with the rehabilitation of these rescued Miniature Schnauzers, to those of you who have opened your homes and hearts, patiently loving and waiting for your little rescue to trust you, this must be infuriating!

The court system is a lengthy and costly process and although I am sure many of us feel the SPCA have sold their souls for monetary gain, I feel they have been made fully aware of the time and costs involved. They have had to put those surrendered fluffy angels first, with proper funding and the addition of two more contract breeders stopping their business operations are the small victories they need to take. One woman in comparison to the suffering of more than a 100 little schnauzers, I am sure they will take the side of those dogs any day.

I am by no means protecting this woman and her Greeder activities but urge you to focus on the most important thing here. Roodewal has been shut down and many of her Contract Breeders will no longer operate. Schnauzer Friends - South Africa has played an integral part in all of this and although we would like to have retribution in charges being laid against the owner of Roodewal, it won't help those frightened fluffy angels still in cages at the SPCA awaiting loving homes.

Remember we are the Voice of the Voiceless and we have something "She" never had, and that is loving hearts and souls for the Miniature Schnauzer. Many of those little Fluffy angels felt that love when you visited the SPCA to give them love and tummy tickles. A warm loving home, sleeping inside with tummy tickles is what they need now. Let's keep focused on the voiceless victims in all of this and let the one woman, although she caused this pain, live out her days in her delusion, for what lies before her, is between her and her God.

We may have lost this battle (ie. charging the owner of Roodewal) my friends but we will win the war against Schnauzer Puppy Mills in South Africa, there is a bigger picture here.

The Schnauzer Friends Community has come together in an amazing way, thank you Deborah and the rest of the Rescue Team and volunteers! There are many little Rescue Angels sleeping warm and loved this winter because of your efforts and I trust that those awaiting homes will have them soon due to the continued awareness made by Schnauzer Friends - South Africa.

With love and admiration,
Michelle & Scout - KZN
