Miniature Schnauzer puppies in layman’s terms....
- Not every miniature schnauzer is a good specimen of the breed, full stop.
- Almost all breeders, good ones and bad ones register their dogs at some registering body (KUSA). This really means nothing as far as the health, quality, temperament of the puppy is concern. Neither does it mean you should buy it because it is registered.
- Most if not all back yard breeders and puppy farms do not provide quality miniature schnauzer’s that conform closely to the breed standard in general
- A well bred, well raised miniature schnauzer is beautiful to look at and beautiful too interact with, chances is you will only find these at breeders dedicated to the advancement of the breed. Of these there is only a few in the country, none of them advertise in the Junkmail, OLX or Gumtree.
- Dedicated breeders show their dogs at championship shows
- Dedicated breeders strive to improve the breed hence they import of quality dogs on a regular basis
- Dedicated breeders spend time integrating the new puppy with the new owners
- Dedicated, responsible breeders sell puppies with a no breeding/sterilization contract to protect your money, the puppy and themselves.
- Dedicated and ethical breeders will take back the puppy and find a new home for it if needs be.
In opposition to serious, committed and ethical breeders, back yard breeders and puppy farms:
The only thing unethical breeders do is..
- Know nothing about the breed standard, and does not breed closely to the breed standard.
- Do not attend seminars on breeding, feeding or housing of dogs
- Do not educate themselves on husbandry, genetics and diseases.
- Do nothing to educate the new owner on how to raise the puppy well
- Do not assist the new owner and instructs the new owners on how to ensure the new puppy turns into a wonderful Schnauzer.
- Use religion to sell puppies.
- Sell puppies at inferior prices.
- Sell puppies that are not microchipped.
- Force people to pay nonrefundable deposits.
- Don’t show their dogs.
- Don’t import quality dogs.
- Do not sell puppies on a money back guarantee contract
The only thing unethical breeders do is..
- Take your money,
- Add to the problems of the SPCA
- Add to the demise of the schnauzer breed standard in South Africa
